Default So I'm getting a Gibson Les Paul for christmas

It's going to be second hand, and Im hoping to get it re-painted black if it isn't black, anybody know any good people in Wales or Southern England who respray guitars?

On a sidenote I'm very excited to be using the same guitar as Dale Crover uses with Big Business and Buzz Osbourne uses with The Melvins.

I've got a Les Paul now, but I've broken a part of the next and used it for spare parts to fix my SG... both of them are Westfields. So they cost £150 each (roughly)

My best guitar until now has been a BC Rich Beast, but it doesn't suit my style of playing or my genre of music to use it, so I'm keeping it as a momento since it was my first guitar.

So you can see why a Gibson is an exciting prospect to me, since until now I've had my "repaired from spare parts" SG to record and play with.

So anybody know any good guitar painters?
or indeed where I can buy a second hand Gibson?

the amount of time and money required to properly refinish a guitar (especially with a set neck) makes it kind of redundant to get a 2nd hand les paul to have it done on in the first place. save up a bit more and get a new black one from the get go. i wouldn't consider a refinish unless it was a really rare vintage guitar or something with lots of sentimental value that somehow got damaged.

from what i can find through google you're looking at a good $500 US and up for a strip and refinish.

as for places to find a 2nd hand guitar.

london musical instruments classifieds - craigslist

Electric guitar for sale, London UK - Cheap guitars online

it's not hard to refine the searches on those sites for cities closer to where you are. you could always try leaving a note on the bulletin boards at your local music shops letting people know you're in the market for a used LP.

Actually refinishing those rare vintage guitars normally hurts their value...You'd have to do some persuading to get a lot of luthiers to do it.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I will never give us a Gibson should I get one, but I want a Black Les Paul like Buzz Osbourne uses.

Tried to get an electronics dude to turn my Dunlop Cry Baby into a Volume pedal recently - he said straight up.... `You Crazy? Just sell it to me! & Buy a Volume pedal`

Fair enough, said I!

lmao! It would work better lol. Luckily for me I run a line 6 spider III (2x150 12 inch, 150 watts), and I use an FBV shortboard. So I pick the channel I need, and I got a wah-wah and a volume pedal... all for £25!

My guitar teacher / guy who's studio I recorded in used a £350 podx3 for me to record guitars... It is SO SWEET.

Wish I could afford one... costs as much as my amp!
