Guitaists: Songs You Play

What are all the songs you are able to play on the guitar?

TwistedEffect 08-20-2008 10:13 PM

I hope you mean guitarists. The songs I play are basically anything I hear that i like. There really should be no limits.

lucifer_sam 08-20-2008 10:32 PM

I like this thread, I had intended to start one but I got sidetracked.

Right now I'm almost obsessed with System of a Down's "Roulette" because it's so simple and so poignant. The solo is really fun, too.

TwistedEffect 08-21-2008 12:07 PM

Right now im working on Metallica's "Ride the Lightning". The riffs and solo are so awesome, and they dont seem that hard.

Alfred 08-21-2008 03:05 PM

Folsom Prison Blues. :D

It's simple, but fun.

back in the day i used to have a pretty substantial list. covers haven't been my thing in years but i'm positive i'd be able to still play along to a bunch of cds from the 90s (blood sugar sex magik / siamese dream / MCIS / badmotorfinger / superunknown / vitalogy) if i sat there and tried.

don't think i'll ever forget how to play under the bridge though.

Folkie 08-31-2008 09:46 AM

im only a biggenerish guitarist but my favorite song to play right now is Needle and the Damage Done by Neil Young its pretty easy but its so fun for me

Mr. Bojangles 08-31-2008 07:22 PM

rasta man 08-31-2008 07:51 PM

I'm not too great at guitar yet, so my fave/best song that i can play is breathe by Pink Floyd.

Mr. Bojangles 08-31-2008 07:55 PM

pink floyds good, have you learned wish you were here? its fairly easy and sounds good to

Fletch 09-07-2008 12:01 AM

Try some Nirvana songs mate, they`re rhythmic, interesting and great for getting your power chords sorted.

I`m currently obsessed learning Dire Straits songs - which is daunting when only using a pick!

FireInCairo 09-07-2008 12:07 AM

i dont do the covers thing so much anymore as i find it really boring
i dont mind playing
flor d'luna- an arrangement by carlos santana
as time goes by - this cool jazz arrangement i found
midnight - joe satriani when i feel like showing off
and the bends- ok computer era radiohead
a few horros riffs are cool as well as some jimi hendrix stuff

Surell 09-07-2008 10:01 PM

The main riff to Smoke On the Water. But who can't?

That song is great. And album is even better. Although you cant really just replay that, since the entire thing is a solo, am i wrong?

Sorry, that was in poor taste!:bonkhead: He was a Musical landmark, & a gentle soul, RIP!

Surell 09-08-2008 07:20 PM

Maybe him and Tupac will do some stuff. (/poor taste)

I used to know the main riff to Iron Man too, but I forgot it short after I learned it. =/

imdesigner 09-09-2008 09:20 AM

ive been playing a lot of the tracks off dark side of the moon lately, really fun album to play along to.

RockGuitar101 09-26-2008 12:24 AM

What can I play?
I studied Jazz, Classical, in college years ago, I have been playing rock for years.
Folk music is way too easy. I know it sounds like I am bragging , but there is no style I can't play and I really can play anything I want, I also write music and am a professional guitarist on tour.

So I can handle anything....sorry but it's true.

Tanglewood 09-26-2008 02:37 AM

Any acoustic by Neil Young, Needle and the Damage done , is my fave song to play. Anything by Cash...

clockworkmice 09-27-2008 02:56 PM

Been playing for about 2 weeks, Right now I'm practicing improvisation on the 1st 2nd and 3rd strings in the E blues scale and can play the riff from money, sunshine of your love and back in black. I can also get about half way through is there anybody out there?

WWWP 09-27-2008 10:04 PM

I recently learned Talk Show Host by Radiohead. Simple, but it gets the guys.

sweet_nothing 09-27-2008 11:29 PM

I hear they're smoking his ashes:

I'm playing Nick Drake's Horn right now (well, not right now) and I'm adding a middle layer to the bass pick and the thin riff on the B-string. It sounds gorgeous, and I suck at guitar.

Subterfuge 10-19-2008 02:45 AM

Nick Drake's sick. I can almost play the whole song of Tornado of Souls by Megadeth.

FireInCairo 10-19-2008 03:01 AM

hey! I can still play that!
i realised the other day i still knew it
i went through a long metal phase
that tune rocks

Eggman 10-19-2008 08:59 AM

i think that was the first song i could ever completely play... of course one could be taught that song in literally 3 minutes but it still sounds awesome

the song i always go back to is Radiohead's Street Spirit, cause it's only mildly difficult to keep the strumming pattern going and it sounds awesome
