I just made an awesome score.
I just bought an RG550EX for £250 english pounds. The minor faults on it are no trem bar, some minor finish dings, one stripped allen socket on the locking nuts, and if you can call it a 'fault' the previous owner removed the middle single coil and changed the scratchplate.
Other than that, I just scored a super wizard neck and edge tremolo equipped guitar in silver for a price god would be jealous of getting. ****ING SCORE! http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1963/picture012zd0.jpg http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/2...ture001ws7.jpg http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/3...ture002ec3.jpg http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/6...ture004sj1.jpg http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/6...ture006os7.jpg http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/4...ture008lz6.jpg http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/8...ture010et8.jpg

I love my Floyd it's so easy to tune and if you break the string while you're stringing it you get another shot.

They sold brand new in 02 for about 6/700. Second hand they're worth a little less, but for people who want a workhorse guitar they're actually selling under their value. I'd say about 350 is average second hand, but I'd personally still pay at least 500 for one brand new.
This aint no floyd, friend. This is an original Ibanez Edge. £150 brand new just for the trem. And the neck is a Super Wizard, which Ibanez fanboys have been lobbying for them to return since they stopped offering them those years ago.

If you read that closely it says floyd rose. I have a peavey blah blah blah and it has the same tuning system rigged up on it for like keeping it in tune with a wammy bar though i took mine off and I think I can see where you did the same.

Dude, I've probably forgotten more about Ibanez guitars than most people ever know, trust me on this, thats an Ibanez bridge. It says EDGE in big letters on the tremolo block (Yes, I took it apart when I got it), it was made for Ibanez by Gotoh under Floyd Rose licensing (meaning, there are elements of the bridge that infringe on Floyd Rose patents, so Ibanez had to pay for a license to make this bridge, or face a lawsuit) Also, floyd rose systems use a bar that screws in. This uses a bar that pops in and is held under tension by two white bushings on the bottom of the bar. This bridge is held by popular opinion to be the best bridge system ibanez have ever made. The only reason they dont make it anymore is they made a redesign (Edge pro and Edge III) that cut out the floyd rose patents, so they don't have to pay floyd rose anymore.

Here's the lowdown for anyone who doesn't know. They are copies, not official Floyd Rose products they are based and copied and paid off floyd rose designs but are Ibanez, which is a reason they are not so good. I've owned all Ibanez copies, Licensed Floyd Roses (which is a Floyd Rose product), Official Floyd Roses (the best), Schaller Tremolos (like Ibanez their based of Floyd Rose designs and they kick ass too.
Floyd Rose makes generally five main bridge products, each having variations. Licensed Foyd Rose tremolos Official Floyd Rose tremolos Seven Foyd Rose tremolos (which is a 7 string variant of the OFR) Speedloader Foyd Rose tremolo Speedloader Foyd Rose fixed bridge what Ibanez makes, their tremolo systems for their 6, 7, and new 8 string are not owned by Floyd Rose but are paid for because the patent was already made by Foyd Rose. That's why it says patented under Foyd Rose. <---playing fast the Ibanez tremolo bridge in my seven string was horrible! once when i was tighening the blocks that lock the string in place is actually snapped the string and it was my only one, since that bridge allowed you to use the ball of the string instead of snipping it off (which is better actually) |
