I need help with my acoustic guitar
my uncle has given me an acoustic guitar. the only problem is, three of
the strings are torn and only the first three are intact. do i need to go to some store that specializes in instruments to buy new strings? and how hard is it to fix it? can i do it on my own or should i let someone with more knowlage take care of it? |
id call places that would sell guitar strings (guitar/music shops) and see if they'll string it for you. If not, just get the strings and look for a site or youtube video and do your best.

No need to get an "expert" to fix them either, any idiot can do it...just make sure you do double knots. You'll be a rock 'n' roll star in no time. :yeah: |

I just replaced the strings on my acoustic for the first time, it's not hard at all. It would be cool to make them look nice, but it's not really necessary to have them glisten at the headstock for the instrument to play correctly. I recommend Dean Markley "Alchemy" strings - very vibrant and really strong. Just detune the instrument so that the remaining strings don't have any tension in them and disassemble the bridge pins to remove the remaining strings and installing the new ones is a snap. NOTE: Unless you want to look like the biggest douchebag ever, do NOT leave them untrimmed. Only the most retarded punks do that. |

The first time I picked a guitar up (many moons ago and probably not much older than the kid who posted this thread) I already had a rough idea that I was responsible for re-stringing the thing and on a regular basis. Seriously, what's next...a thread asking whether he should send it away to be tuned? |
lol its somebody who got a 3 string guitar for their first.

hi, there solitary blue... if your guitar is brand new I think it is covered by the warranty, but if it's not buy a new string that fits to your guitar their are lots of stores that sell those kind of strings. Let them fix for you, and ask some questions how to fixed it in case that will happen again...

Hey Right - Track!
Don't you think what's on the bottom of your posts is a bit too near the truth for them to take? Next they'll be hurling insults at you! |
