I just replaced the strings on my acoustic for the first time, it's not hard at all. It would be cool to make them look nice, but it's not really necessary to have them glisten at the headstock for the instrument to play correctly. I recommend Dean Markley "Alchemy" strings - very vibrant and really strong. Just detune the instrument so that the remaining strings don't have any tension in them and disassemble the bridge pins to remove the remaining strings and installing the new ones is a snap. NOTE: Unless you want to look like the biggest douchebag ever, do NOT leave them untrimmed. Only the most retarded punks do that.
