while i agree, the 'pointiness' of an RG120 does scream metal. not exactly my first (or 10th) choice to play beatles tunes.
the OP basically has 2 choices, either stick with it and use it to develop technique while saving up for something a little more vintage looking. or sell it, and risk offending whoever it is that gave it as a birthday gift.
