Mid Range Electric Drums
 

Hey, My name is Tyler and I've been playing drums for a little over a year now.

I was just wondering what you guys would suggest for a mid range electric drum kit. I am not that knowledgeable about them and have only started my research, but I have run into a lot of . . . "I want to learn drums but don't want to put any money in it at all." posts.

My budget is around $1500 CAN but I can go up if theres a kit with a decent difference or better quality something or other.

I'm moving into a new place soon so my Acoustic set can't come with me. The Kit use will be for Recording and some very small scale live performances. and of course practice.

Dont get electic drums, period espeically since your new to drums
it will mess you up badly lol

can't go wrong with roland, and you shouldn't have much difficulty finding an authorized dealer in your area. pretty much any music store chain will be able to hook you up.

R is pretty uptight about publicly releasing their prices (and browsing their website is an exercise in frustration). something to keep in mind when you're checking for a kit is that the stand and kick pedal will likely be extra purchases. also, where you mention live performances you're also going to need some sort of PA / monitor setup as well (but you can always get that at a later date).

if i remember correctly from my last visit to my local shop a 6 piece with a stand was around $1000-1200. i'm not a drummer though so i didn't really pay 'that' much attention, was more a matter of curiosity.

Yea, i would not stat on electronic, you just wont get the same feel when your learning the basics. Just like if you plan to play an electric guitar why start on an acoustic.

this seems like a VERY valid reason for getting an electronic kit regardless of how long one has been playing the drums.
