all the sites i'm seeing are saying it's out of stock. so it appears to have been released (at least in limited quantities). the relatively low price point is probably making it hard to keep in stock. GB should be able to give you more details about it whenever he checks this thread again.

the GRB is one of 50 custom replicas of the charvel surfcaster from the early 90s. the only person i remember using one of them back in the day was scott ian from anthrax.

THe ORM1's have supposedly been available since last year. Dealer inventory is a fickle thing though, and since most people aren't thinking 'guitar hero' as much as 'mars volta guy' when they think of omar, I doubt many dealers have ordered them in. Ibanez aren't too quick on orders, sadly, but ask your local ibby dealer to get one in for you and it should get there. Eventually.

A band I'm producing were completely sold on their Ibanez guitars when they came in initially.

With no persuasion from me other than, "hey, try out some of my gear for a laugh," they're exclusively using my Gibsons on their record.

Not the most comfortable to play, but a nice, properly set-up Gibson is pretty much my preference.

*shrug*

I've played both and always been dissapointed with the gibbys, regardless of age price or setup theres always been something missing.

In fact, the best les paul i ever played, was a honeyburst Epiphone Les Paul Deluxe. That particular guitar was one of those ones that jumps out at you as better than the rest.

My old guitar teacher prefered Epiphones to Gibsons, something about the neck of a gibson that bugged him I think.

Its not that epiphones are too much different tbh. Its just that particular guitar was a bit of a diamond in the rough. My other experiences with epiphones have been on par with gibby - dissapointing. The only reason its less dissapointing with epiphones is because epiphones are at least priced within the realm of man, and not the realm of insane old guitar company.

i dunno, the most amazing guitar i've personally played was a midnight blue '74 les paul. not a single other electric has come close to giving me the same sensation. could be that it was another diamond in the rough, could also easily be better QA back in the day.

either way, it's not a carte blanche for gibsons, just the high watermark of my own experiences.

:( I wish more people bought outside the main brands :( So many incredible low/mid/high range companies making great products; yet Gibson and Fender get 9/10's of the market.

I would consider buying a vox or an Ibanez jet king but, the latter of which is very rare and pricy. I really want a Vox Starstreamer. :(

That is one sexy beast.

So what do y'all think of Danelectros?
