Annoying Predictable Rhythms (country, drum, bass, pop, rock)

I am starting to get real tired of hearing(and also playing) predicable rhythms.. It seems like in the last few years a lot of pop rock songs, ballads, contemp, modern light rock, etc. has that same bass guitar/bass drum pattern.

I can't really explain it but it's kind of like this...instead of playing on the downbeat the bass drum kicks slightly ahead of the beat and the bass guitar follows suit. This happens maybe once every couple measures or so. This is not so much the case with harder rock or country (which I like as well), but with soft rock or contemp pop and it's starting to annoy me.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has noticed the same thing (or can even figure out what I am trying to say)....
