Best genre for drummers.
Funk is not my favorite genre to listen to but i think overall for drumming its the best. I love learning funk beats cus so many of them are so "out there" and chill sounding. Also i think funk has the largest variety of playing styles and often the hardest. (with the excepting of jazz, whch is pretty tuff)

Metal in most cases allows drummers to showboat without it being out of place, I wouldn't say its the best but still worth noting.

Stoner Metal is great for drums. Progressive music is great for drums. I also think Death and Black Metal are great for drums.

Funk and jazz drummers usually tend to be more well rounded and able to play more creatively thru different types of music. Not that i dont respect metal drumming, its hard, and sounds great, just lota more out there. |
Jazz fusion.

Jazz is obviously the hardest, and probably the best to learn. Once you've mastered jazz your co-ordination would be incredible. I love to play punk, but it's not necessarily a genre built around drummers.

yea i'd say jazz or metal, they both allow drummers to showboat without it being overkill. once you're established as a jazz drummer you can basically move on to anything, thats why i love Carter Beauford, made his mark playing funk and fusion and now he just plays pop with amazing technique and feel

I'm not a drummer myself but I've always thought that metal would be good to help with technique and stamina (and showing off when necessary).

Funk drummers are the most tallented, we'll put it that way. But metal drummers come in second if they aren't just double bassing all the time.
