I find it hella easier to play a F chord that way, using an e-type barre chord, so maybe you need to work on strengthening your index finger.

It's an incredibly simple song to play, makes good use to major and minor 7th chords and sounds absolutely beautiful.

It seems that where I'm from, everybody wants to hear Jimmy ****in' Buffet. Murderous rage ensues.

But in my opinion, just for acoustic acts.. In no order of difficulty, Big Hands by the Violent Femmes, Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah, Angel From Montgomery by John Prine, My Friends and I Could Have Lied by RHCP, and throw in some random Sublime and Nirvana tunes. People seem to like that.
