Everything I ever tried to play by Lizst just baffled me. The guy was obsessed with arpeggiating. Also, Gershwin is perhaps surprisingly difficult to play exactly as its written, but that was probably because he put a lot of pointless notes into his chords, so you find yourself leaving them out semi-intentionally.
EDIT: Singing-wise, music by anybody with a really high voice is difficult (Jeff Buckley, Queen... Michael Jackson is pretty much impossible but fortunately I don't want to sing his songs so much). That's only if you sing it in the original key though. Actually, if you tranpose the vocals there are almost no non-opera songs that I'd say were that technically difficult to sing. Maybe Grace and Eternal Life by Jeff Buckley and um, that last one off OK Computer. |
