Well who do you choose as the greatest overall bassist. Greatest includes showmanship and technical ability (that's said to reduce the fights over what greatness means).

Ooooh, I didn't read the initial criteria... Jaco was technically flipping amazing and he used that ability to write really stupid, pointless basslines. Bootsy brought the funk. And he was called Bootsy.

I'm sure Jaco could have played any bassline which was suggested to him and made it sing... but he chose to play crap ones. The tosser.

By the criteria mentioned, it's difinetely Jaco, and everyone already knows I'm more of a Bootsy guy myself.

I guess people here are using their own critieria, I surely hope no one here actually thinks Bootsy is more skilled than Jaco.

He's funky and has a better presence (spelling?). Jaco looks funny (not the cool funny) when he plays live.
