I found the opposite. 15 years playing guitar, 10 of which professionally, didn't prepare me for how difficult it is to play bass PROPERLY.

I'll admit, many people can "get by" on bass, but to play well, you have to have a better grasp of theory, rythym, melody and harmony than the average good guitar player, plus it's a much more physically demanding instrument to play, heavier, bigger stretches, and most tiimes you can't hide behind FX pedals to mask poor tecnique and a lack of talent.
