I recently purchased a Jaguar (Squier) used at GC for $140. Does the job for what I need, plus I like that it has separate Bass/Mid/Treble knobs. It's not my first bass though, I had a crappy no-name piece of **** in the late 80's playing bass for Cynadel.

I've been following this guys work for couple years. All you gearheads check out the stunning products from ACG:

I made a seperate post on here for next gen solo artists. This guy is a bass player but he writes and records rock/metal instrumentals where the bass is at the forefront of the music - http://www.musicbanter.com/rock-meta...ml#post1283887

But here's one of his tracks from his first album with just clean bass and drums

Cliff Burdon was definitely a great bass player!

Question About the bass...

Okay, well I play a 4-string Westfield bass guitar (but I'd really like the MusicMan StingRay 5!), and my favourite bassist is Marta Altesa. =3

I don't have any particular preference of style, but I am learning the "slap and pop" technique.

I'm currently learning "Panic Station" by Muse, if anyone has any advice to offer when playing this song, feel free to share. =)

Problems I have encountered are very noisy strings when sliding (I've heard of flat-wound strings, but not sure if this necessary), or pulling fingers off them, large metal clunking sounds when slapping, and inability to control resonance when slapping strings.

Any suggestions for effect settings on my Zoom B2 distortion pedal are also very welcome.

My appreciation, amigos - thank you! ^_^

I love bass violas, they're similar to cellos but I believe that they are tuned to different notes. I was playing one at a local guitar center with a bow and it was great fun.

EDIT: The one in the picture has six strings, but the one that I played had 4 and looked quite a bit like that one.

Haha! Thanks for the video Necromancer, Victor Wooten makes it look easy! I finished learning "Panic Station" today, I might try "Dani California" by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers next - the bass in it is so awesome (I do quite like a bit of Flea as well)! =)
