What is the difference in timings? I know that is 12 beats to a bar and 8 bars to a measure but how does that change the rhythm of a song?

The time signature affects where the accents go, it's difficult to explain how exactly it changes the rhythm of a song, but Spoonman by Soundgarden (7/4, I believe, I can't think of any 12/8 off the top of my head) is a pretty good example of how the rhythm sounds... different... I don't know. It makes music less boring. Somehow. |
