Question The Great Pickup Search

im on a search- i originally wanted to get a new guitar- but now i have decided to get new humbuckers for my strat-

what kind should i look for or get??

i just have nowhere to start looking

Hmm.

depends on what kind of sound you are after... metal? jazz? rock?

trust me, don't get those pickups which make you sound like everybody else.. unless that's your intended agenda.

I'm sure you've heard of Van Halen, and esp his tone. In case you are not aware, his 'frankenstein' strat was just outfitted with one Gibson PAF, wired to one volume pot. And apart from a few pedal tweaks aside, he put that guitar through a marshall and that was his rig.

Anyway.. do your research on pickup manufacturer websites... trust me, there are many out there.. and anyway are you sure you wanna change the pcikups to your strat? a fender guitar in its original specs would be worth more compared to a modified monster say 20 years down the road.
