I can't stand department stores selling guitars. They don't have a good enough selection or enough advice/input for even a beginner guitarist. For example, they won't be able to tell you how to care for it, and it could become damaged as a result of poor knowledge.

We went back there and they had come and hacked off every inoculated arm. There they were in a pile. A pile of little arms. And I remember... I... I... I cried. I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn't know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that. |

Hey man
Yeah I wouldn't think it would be a real Fender because they only would use like a Telecaster or Stratocaster name a Starcaster is just a bit too close to Stratocaster and people could get confused so no I wouldn't think it was a real Fender. And plus if it was Fender I think it would be more than 168 bucks if it was a Squire then maybe but not a Fender. Cheers FenderVGStrat |

The original USA Starcasters were pretty good guitars, a semi- solid rival to the Gibson 335, etc., but I can't see these being up to the mark.
That said, a session player friend of mine uses a Fender acoustic electric for sessions, made somewhere in the far east. It cost him £160 sterling, (about $330), and he swears by it - even stopped using his Ovation.

my friend has a starcaster and she likes it... the only thing wrong with it was the whammy bar came broke in two

yeahh...its like a beginner/cheap Fender...its like Fender-->Squier-->Starcaster
they are fender products but beginner ones, deservingly sold at dept. stores
