Starcaster?!
Sams Club is selling the Fender Starcaster now. Is this a legitamate fender product? its not on the fender website, but it carries the Fender design and Logo
it is like 168 bucks |
I can't stand department stores selling guitars. They don't have a good enough selection or enough advice/input for even a beginner guitarist. For example, they won't be able to tell you how to care for it, and it could become damaged as a result of poor knowledge.

very true....i wasnt considering it anyway!
haha...i bet it is crap lol but is it a real fender? |
no
|
its not even made in mexico
|
Hey man
Yeah I wouldn't think it would be a real Fender because they only would use like a Telecaster or Stratocaster name a Starcaster is just a bit too close to Stratocaster and people could get confused so no I wouldn't think it was a real Fender. And plus if it was Fender I think it would be more than 168 bucks if it was a Squire then maybe but not a Fender. Cheers FenderVGStrat |
The original USA Starcasters were pretty good guitars, a semi- solid rival to the Gibson 335, etc., but I can't see these being up to the mark.
That said, a session player friend of mine uses a Fender acoustic electric for sessions, made somewhere in the far east. It cost him £160 sterling, (about $330), and he swears by it - even stopped using his Ovation. |
my friend has a starcaster and she likes it... the only thing wrong with it was the whammy bar came broke in two

Wikipedia have an article on that guitar thats a little sparse, but yes, they are real.
|
yeahh...its like a beginner/cheap Fender...its like Fender-->Squier-->Starcaster
they are fender products but beginner ones, deservingly sold at dept. stores |
one thing to keep in mind there's IS a difference between the fender starcaster from the late 70s early 80s which was an attempt by fender to get in on the semi-hollowbody market and starcaster by fender. subtle differences in similar terms, but significant differences in instruments. the 'starcaster by fender' is a cheap strat knockoff.
on the other hand, the fender starcaster is good enough for johnny greenwood from radiohead. besides, since when does the price dictate the quality? just take a look at any of the posts GB has been making about gibson recently. |
