one thing to keep in mind there's IS a difference between the fender starcaster from the late 70s early 80s which was an attempt by fender to get in on the semi-hollowbody market and starcaster by fender. subtle differences in similar terms, but significant differences in instruments. the 'starcaster by fender' is a cheap strat knockoff.

on the other hand, the fender starcaster is good enough for johnny greenwood from radiohead. besides, since when does the price dictate the quality? just take a look at any of the posts GB has been making about gibson recently.
