I'd explicate it here but I'm almost positive not too many people on this forum are as interested or intrigued by the beauty in math. Or at least an analytical proof for why tubes will ALWAYS sound different/better than solid states.

Go ahead mate. I know how it works but not the math behind it.

One of the main problems with solid state amps is the fact that companies try so hard to make them sound like tube amps. There could be some great potential in solid state amps, but people are pretty damn obsessed with keeping that tube sound.

Thats a good point. Emulation isn't too bad sometimes but there doesn't seem to many solid state amps doing their own thing.

Its not just the tube sound. Its mainly the dynamics of your playing. Thats primarily what ss try and encapsulate. Also the clipping of natural distortion. Their is really nothing else a good amp can do than have a good clean and dirty channel.

And a peddle will NEVER sound as good as the sound breaking up on its own. Maybe in 100 years I will be proven wrong, but I figure everyone will be playing laptops by that point.

To me, a barely overdriven tube amp with reverse reverb and delay is one of the best sounding things in the world

I currently play guitar but I can also play the bass. I've only been playing the guitar for one and a half years but I'm in a band. (as the guitarist and singer)

I currently own an Epiphone SG G400 (Personally I hate it.)
And I own a Boss GT-5 multi effects processor for the guitar. (Love it.)
I only own a Crate GX15 amplifier however when practising I use a Fender Frontman as our drummer owns one.

I can set up my guitar pretty well but do not have the tools to cut and shim nuts. I took my nut in and they didnt do a very good job because im still having tons of problems despite having it intonation nearly perfectly. It is so god damned frustrating. I am afraid im going to have to get a new nut and pay them the 40 bucks to cut a new one.

I paid 60 bucks for a new nut for my guitar, but at least it was cut properly, and it works better than the older one by far. We have similar guitars, but I'm guessing the nut that came with your tele was very thin, and shallow.

I'm thinking about cutting one exactly like the one I have on my guitar right now as blanks (2) only cost a couple of bucks, and I have a pretty good guide as to how to where to cut.

Guitars are pretty damn irritating when it comes to intonation. I know I've been pretty pissed when trying to get it to sound in tune up the neck, but it's in pretty good shape right now (thank god).

I actually had to sell that (stupid I know) a while back because I couldnt find a job and needed to pay rent. I now have an SX strat copy with a mahogany body and 2 p90s. Replaced the tuners/bridge/block and nut. The new nut isnt cut well though. Was preslotted from gfs and the guy at the shop trimmed it and shimmed it. Other than the nut the guitar plays amazingly well, its only a 120$ to start with. The new saddles and heavy brass block really made a big difference though.

Ill put some pictures up soon as I get the cts250k pots and speed knobs in.

Found my old clarinet in the closet yesterday. I remember that this was the instrument I wanted to play in school, before I switched to the flute. My dad bought this clarinet for me (he had something against renting one from the school), and he was quite mad when I decided I didn't like it and wanted to switch to flute. I don't blame him - he paid almost $1,000 for it!
