DO you ever find yourself just holding your guitar for periods of time even if your not playing it. I always have it close or in my hands, just like the look and feel of it.
Alex I know you hold your tele close. |

I bought this new Stereo recording microphone about a week ago. It's a Blue make, the Yeti model, really great for recording just about any situation be it guitar and vocals, a full band or recording track by track. It has four different recording settings (stereo, omnidirectional, bidirectional and cardiod)and a gain control right on it.
The quality is really great, and it has a zero latency mic input on it so you can hear everything in real time which is a very very nice convenience when recording. I am really happy with it! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...0/713/fcct.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...0/822/tbu5.jpg |
^ It looks just like a Telefunken U-47
|
I have the same mic, use it for lots of things, sounds amazing for what it costs.

I usually stick with Stereo(well for now anyway haha); be it when I record vox and guitar at the same time or layer tracks. I do like the way vocals come in on Cardiod though. It's definitely a huge step up from what I was using before (A CAD Condensor Mic) |
Thinking of getting a round neck resonator guitar. Anyone have any experience with them? Right now I'm eyeing the Grestch G9200 Boxcar or the Gretsch G9240 Alligator Biscuit Cone Roundneck because they're within my price range. I was looking at these Rogue Spider Resonators, but their price has me a little suspicious.

Just got an AER compact 60-3 acoustic amp. So amazingly compact and perfect.

Update on my alto flute fiasco: I got it, and it works beautifully!

Got an Ovation Tangent today.

I bought a hohner mouth harp. After 1 month the 6th note blew out and the fifth only plays sharp, no draw.
I had also a hohner in C, I think. It lasted yeeeears. Well, 1 year when I got hold of it but it had been owned for years. The new harp is G, and it has a proper tight grip. But sucks, I slobbered and it broke. I guess my scales is (also the 2nd note is a dud cos its the same as 3rd note blow on a withdraw) G-A-C-F-C-C with no high A-C :o: |
i was thinking about getting some customization done to my Epiphone Les Paul.
i mean, i've had it since 2005 and to be honest it's looking a little (to put it nicely) well used. |

Just got a bass, a Dean Zone XM Bass to be specific. Pretty good bass for a beginner, and I got it for a little less because the bass I was going to get was sold and the guy felt bad for me. |

Waiting for this to come in the mail to put on my jaguar. I EVEN GOT NEW STRINGS! #flatwoundsgetemwet |
Decided I enjoyed bass so much that I'd splurge a little bit for an early birthday present. Traded in my Dean to take more than half off this little beauty.

Ther are few things in this world that I love as much as my guitar.
She's a Cosmotone and she's like my twin soul. She was born in the same year as I was, and given to me by my dad :) Her name is "Alfine" and I think she cost a fortune, but I love having her around :) Don't really go far from home without her |
My guitar of choice is a Fender Standard Strat (with some new pickups in). I used it to play in a hardcore band and it worked surprisingly well the bridge pickup cut through everything leaving a mush free sound which works so much better for punk than the standard high gain 'bucker sound.
|
My main guitar lately has been a cheapy Gibson Les Paul Melody Maker, 2011 version. Replaced the humbucker with a Dimarzio Tone Zone and it sounds really great. Simple set up, 1 humbucker and a volume knob.
http://cdn.mos.musicradar.com/images...ul2-630-80.jpg Got it for under $300. Stock it sounded decent, but the clean tone was a little off. Found once I switched to the Dimarzio pickup, it sounded a lot better to me. Only thing I would do different on it is to put the input on the bottom, the placement is kind of weird to get used to. Maybe move the humbucker up a small bit from the bridge. But those are just nitpicking things... it plays and sounds great to me anyway. |

Got a snare, next I need to invest in some wire brushes and a snare stand. Been playing it with pencils because my sticks are back at home. |
Does anyone have problems with high-e string breakage on jaguars? I've been having that problem a lot lately.

Not real sure if it's the actual problem but 95% of the time that's what it is. |

Edit: What brand of strings you using? |
Yeah, I see tons of threads relating to it, but not one clear answer as to what causes it.

Picked one of these up today. I watched a lot of reviews on it, listened to samples and thought I liked what I heard based on those, but upon taking it home and trying it out on my own, I am not so sure. It is deft. a high gain pedal. BOSS is not lying when they say it is the one with the most gain. It has a sound I am not sure if I like at this time. Really high and not really low. The 2 band EQ is not the greatest. I like the Metal Zone more for thrashy old school sounds, the 3 band works well. Has a more even tone. I think this pedal is like what the Grunge was (in name only)... a pedal that is branded with an awful name, meant to sell more to people into a style of music. Doesn't really give a lot of what it is actually like. Makes you think though, when reviews are done on these pedals, they usually do not tell you what their rig set up is, could be running a $3000 amp, and all that... so it gives you more an idea what it will be like when played on higher end gear. I will keep it and see if I can figure out how to play around with it more, but I think I will be using my Metal Zone more. |
If you can find one, a ProCo Rat pedal gives a really great and authentic thrash metal sound, but I really liked my BOSS Metal Zone MT-2.
|
Yeah, I wouldn't mind picking up one of those. I hear they are pretty great.
|
I just tried it on my Peavey amp and it sounds 10x better on that.
I hopefully by tomorrow will be playing it on this. Hope it is in order, for the price I can not be certain. But if it is, man, what a deal! Peavey tube amp | amps, pedals | Red Deer | Kijiji |
I'm an anti-Fender/ibson person. I don't like the mass produced cookie cutter construction. My G&L ASAT and Legacy give me qulity Tele and Strat. I use Hamer instead of Gibson. My Studio does an articulate LP, by Artist does a good 335. I may never own Fender/Gibson

Or just get a regular one and customize it yourself, more fun that way anyways. |
So I spent the last 5 hours playing around with and taking apart my fender jaguar, trying to better intonate it, and fix the action a bit. I've been thinking, should I go out and take it somewhere to properly get it set up, or should I keep fiddling about with it? I'm getting a good tuner soon, so intonating it should not be a problem in the near future. I kind of figured it's about time I learned how to set up my own guitars anyway, I have a radius gauge so the radius is satisfactory, and I fiddled around with the truss rod and am fairly happy with the neck relief (I play hard and bend a lot). So should I keep mucking about and learn as I go?

Depends on what you need it for. If you're regularly gigging, then I'd say get it to someone who knows what they are doing. If you're just an at-home type of player then by all means play around with it and learn. I probably don't have to tell you that there are thousands of tutorials and resources for properly setting a guitar up on the nets. |
I think I just found the deal of a lifetime... but I can't really afford it at the moment, not to mention that I don't have a place to put it. A friend is selling her mother's harpsichord for $3,000. It's about 100 years old and in good condition. It's fucking beautiful. This is the picture she put on the advertisement:
http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/a...psf3183dec.jpg Honestly, I am pining so hard for this instrument right now. But I don't have the money and I don't have the room. Harpsichord  |
