Disagree. A guitar that old could easily have stripped screws, a warped neck, the finish could have reacted with a vinyl stand, etc etc.
Essentially, when a guitar is that old, anything could be wrong with it. Without seeing it first I'd be wary. Of course, for £100 it could, easily, be a gem, or a nightmare. No way to tell. As for restringing it lefty - Yes it can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it, simply because the nut might need replacing to accept the alternate guages, and without it you might run into a bunch of problems.
