when it comes to Agile's i've always been curious about their fretless models. i find the layout to their site kind of meh but whatever. i also liked it better when it was black.
Agile AL-3000 Fretless HSB at RondoMusic.com i also remember a guy who used to post here way back when i first joined who did end up getting one of their strat models. there's no way a $100 guitar can match a $1000 guitar but it was apparently way better than most entry level fare. somewhere between a squier and a mexican. |

Currently own
Yamaha RBX series bass Squier Tele Framus Panthera Pro Epiphone Birds Eye top Les Paul Fender US standard Strat Hohner acoustic Have a Marshall Valvestate 100 but these days tend to record onto PC using Line 6 stuff. Would love a Gretsch 6118 in Smoke Green if money was no option Or a Gretsch Super Axe or an ES 295 or a nice Yamaha SG etc etc |

Always liked the shape of them more than the Gibson SG, something very appealing about them, the depth of the body and symmetricality and the fact they were a bit unusual, you didnt see many about. My mate had a cherry red Gibson SG and i always thought it was f*cking awful, never told him though.
John McGough who played in Magazine and Siouxsie & The Banshees is one of my favourite players and he used one, and that's enough for me. I looked into getting one a few years ago, there was a chap on ebay (based in China or something) who was selling a quite a few at very reasonable prices but what with all the shipping hassle i decided not to go for it. Not a dream guitar you understand, not in the league of an ES 295, just one that id like to own... |

I hate the SG shape. Its great for upper fret access but it neckdives like a BITCH and the tiny neck joint means sustain and tone are lacking.

I agree the SG shape isn't to everyone's taste and although beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course, it does lack the practicality of say a Tele or something. Upper fret access not a concern for me as anything above fret 14 is a foreign country. |

doesn't it bug you that if you let go of the neck the whole guitar instantly points straight downwards? It makes it so you're less playing the neck and more holding it up in lieu of the body being balanced. Even the offset shapes don't make a difference there because its so bad.

Well yeah thats definitely an issue. Bear in mind its nearly 20 years since i played one From what i understand the Yamaha ones are a lot heavier and are much more LP-like in construction so i dont think it would be so much of a problem. Tbh theres a few guitars with inherent design problems but you just live with them if you like other things about them (generally the way they look in my case). |
