1. I'm not sure what you mean by 'the best way' anyway. For the final part of the drum solo itself its up to the drummer and his 'creativity' (spasms) to just play a rhythm that works well as and ending phrase.
2. When you'd finish the drum solo, I'd recommend going straight back into roughly whatever the main beat of the song you were playing was - find a neat way to segue from the solo to the main song.

By the way, I'm no great drummer myself but then they rarely know what they're talking (grunting) about anyway.
