Where is the problem?
I am wanting to do some recording, but I am having issues with static. I am trying to record through a Yanmai Y20 microphone with an Amazon Basics XLR Cable, to a Behringer U-Phoria UM2 audio interface. I am not sure where the problem is coming from... The microphone is what I believe is the problem, although it could be any one of them. I only have 1 mic and audio interface so I can't test those. When I use the microphone with the cable it came with (male XLR to male 3.5 mm Aux) it has near no static, and additionally, when I use the amazon basics XLR cable as an extension cable, there is still the same minimal static. If anyone has the equipment to test these products or has any advice, that would be much appreciated. If any extra info is needed, I am happy to provide.

Sounds like a grounding issue. You'll need to follow these instructions:

I appreciate the help, but I do not believe this is the problem because, correct me if I am wrong, but it would affect everything plugged into it, but when I plug my guitar into the audio interface there is no problem. additionally, It doesn't plug into an outlet, but the computers USB so I am not seeing how this would affect it, but I might be missing something.

now I am realizing that it likely is the audio interface because now for some reason anything I plug into it is staticy

@Voilaguy, perhaps its the connection. It is a noise that you hear when nothing is being played, or is it a noise that occurs when the cables are moved? |

It is a noise that is pretty much constant, not really caused by cables moving. I can try to send some audio clips.
