Default What are you guys using to record?

I need to get back in the game. I don't keep up on the technology so I need some help. I don't want to have to spend a ton.

First piece of gear I'm looking at is this little puppy.

Guitar amp overview

With this, what would I need to be able to record to your backing tracks and then be able to upload them here?

Thanks.

I use a free app on my phone called Recorder Plus. It goes pretty well, you can do some overdubbing with it if you wanted to, and you can email yourself the tracks. I used to use a USB mic, but the one that's on my phone is better than the few that I've tried out (I was kind of cheap on those buys though, USB mics can be a good option).

That looks pretty cool.

Right now all I use is a Steinberg UR12 audio interface.

My chain:

Guitar > Line 6 HD500 > M-Audio USB Interface > PC w/Audacity

All my effects are coming from the HD500, but I could take the HD500 out of the chain and use some amp sims with Reaper, or any other interface as well.

So I just ordered that Line 6 box and loaded their app onto my iPhone.

Mike's got a killer recording setup so I'll be good to go with a couple of day. I just need one of you knuckleheads to upload a cool backing track for me to riff over.

Here's a couple backers for ya. One is drums/bass/rhythm in a metal format, and one is just drums/bass in a blues/rock format.

Well, two sessions with it and it's already all packed up and ready to be returned. Cool little toy but the tones pretty much sucked - tried it through headphones, a stereo system, and a guitar amp.

For my drone and weird **** I use my phone with the app Rec Forge II mainly because it's easy to convert files. For acoustic stuff I use a TASCAM 4-Track recorder but I don't use it often because I have to convert files to computer then to my phone to convert files easy.

Line 6 tones are extremely thin. They package their products with the same core technology, so no matter what you think you're getting, it's gonna be the same crap. I have the same tones in my Spider amp that I get in my HD500. Same ****, different packaging. I would have warned you, but I had no idea you went with it already. I've heard some good things about Amplitube, and Guitar Rig, which are software driven amp sims, but then again someone mentioned there are even better sounding rigs in the following links, but I have yet to get into doing the amp sim thing.

TSE Audio - Home
