dropping tuning from 440 A to 432 A... how in cool edit?
I wanted to experiment with changing the tuning of some old recordings to "Verdi's A" which is the more natural sounding 432 hertz. Being not very good at math I have no idea how to do this in cool edit pro 2.1. When you alter a pitch in cool edit you can do it by note, or you can do it by "ratio" which I assume means "percent" (setting the ratio to 50, lowers pitch 50%, raising it to 200 makes it twice as high).
I guess I need to lower the pitch by 8 hertz but I'm not too sure on the math... do I just lower it 8%? That would be 92% of recorded pitch? |

I prefer 432 Hz to 440. I used to have a program [or maybe it was an app?] that would convert 440 to 432 automatically.

Why are we replying to 3 year old thread?

I not the one who bumped it. Just saw that it had a new reply and checked it out. There is a conspiracy surrounding 440 Hz. Supposedly, 432 Hz is a "natural" frequency which promotes healing, so the music industry chose 440 Hz, which is said to cause tension and unease. I don't know that I believe all of that.
Though, certain frequencies ARE known to have beneficial effects on certain ailments. Dr. Royal Rife cemented this back in the 1800's. |
Lovely.
