Default Getting Gigs

For those of you who are gigging, how did you get gigs? We've had a couple, but they've been kind of random chance encounters. We've been e-mailing places but don't hear back (they're generally very busy venues, and probably give preference to promoters they trust).

I think a tried and true way to get shows is to make the time go to local shows. Get to meet other bands and make friends. If you can try just enjoying time with them before asking about shows. The topic (your band) will come up eventually.

We play mostly breweries so we have had the best luck just showing up, drinking a beer or 2 and talking to the people that work there. Give them a card or other contact info. Got more shows than we want right now. Once we play somewhere they usually try to book us several shows through the rest of the year.
