Retro microphones
My husband plays in a local band (classic country/rock & roll). They play at weddings, bars, local events, etc.
I would like to get him a retro microphone for Christmas; I'm thinking Elvis style. I've seen a bunch online ranging from $50-$250. Obviously, I would love to think that a $50 mic is going to be wonderful but I'm sure that is probably not the case for his needs. Since I am not at all intelligent when it comes to this stuff, I have enough sense to ask people who might have so intelligence! Does anyone have any good suggestions? Any help is appreciated! |

A $50 mic isn't something that he'll be using for live performance, or at least I wouldn't think one would. Low end microphones tend to have cheaper components, and will feedback much easier in normal situations where a good (more expensive) mic won't. If you are looking for something as a gag gift then the $50 one (or even less expensive in that case) will do. If you're looking to get him something that he can actually use, then you'll have to put up a bit more cash. Here's a good example:
