New Member A Simple Song Needs Editing
 

I'm using Sound Cloud just as a way to share music. I'm not a musician nor do I intend to be at any point. I do like to play guitar. I tend to use Audacity to edit because it is simple and free but the editing is not as great as something as Pro Tools.

The issue I have with Pro Tools is whether it is user friendly.

Can anyone suggest a user friendly editing product like Pro Tools which will take all music files?

That is another issue when I record using a mic I have to change the file using a file converter.

So can anyone suggest a cost effective alternative?

Here's my advice:

I believe you said you're mic'ed. If so, there's only so much tone you can get through Line 6 products, so I'd say try to go line in direct with maybe some VST Plug-Ins, or get a good multi-effects pedal and go Guitar - Pedal - PC. I've done this a few times using 1/4 to 1/8 adapter to go direct to a PC's mic input. There are latency issues, but if you know how to trim those off in a DAW, it's not a terrible way to go. The reason for all this is that the Line 6 is robbing you of tone. The PC will only put out what you put in. The other issue, which I'm totally in the dark about here, is what mic was used, although a better mic won't save you from the toneless pit of that Line 6.

I'm no expert and there are countless others here that could probably give you better/alternate solutions and advice on how to record guitar better.

Also it helps to practice.

Thanks Plankton you are good understanding musician. I'm moving up to a new amp soon. I'm short of funds but the next logical step is a Marshal with foot pedals and what you suggest a direct connection to the computer.

I'm looking into working on finger plucking.

I saw your set up and man is it impressive. I'm looking into buying an Ovation some time in the future. For now it is me and the Epiphone.

Currently I'm using Guitar Aerobics to better know my Epiphone. A year from now when I play better I'm getting the Gibson Standard--just the most basic. PRS is awesome but beyond my budget. At some point I'm going for the Fender or Ibanez but again that is way down the line as I have budget issues.
