Default Live Electronics?

Honestly this is a bit of a ripoff of a thread I just saw in here, but what exactly does one need in order to use a laptop to play electronic music in a live setting? I've been getting into electronic noise lately and I have a macbook pro. What do I need in order to get started while spending the very least amount of currency possible?

Ableton Live is usually the software that many live EDM artists use, as a bare minimum.
At least as a core host, anyway.

Thanks, I'll probably check out the trial download, but the full download is about 600 bucks

Oh well. I guess that all instruments are expensive, even electronic ones.

Ok man, so holy crap. I found what seems to be a legit free program online and downloaded it, but I am now Way in over my head. I have no earthly idea even how to start using this thing. I really want to figure it out but I can't get past opening the damn program. I do know that in order to work it needs another program to be downloaded as some sort of buffer? Maybe? I don't know but I would really appreciate any help that anyone could give me. I'll post links to the free downloads if you guys want to check it out. It seems to be a really good program, I just don't know where to start.

Haha I totally don't know what I'm doing at all. That isn't a program for producing and editing sound live?

Yeah I really couldn't find Ableton and I stumbled across some other random electronic sound programs in the process.

If you're this new to it, I think even Ableton would be too far over your head. But, if you want, I'll see what I can do... but if you've never used a DAW sequencer before, there is a pretty big learning curve.

Perhaps you should start basic.
Do a search on Acid Pro, and look over the features. It's not really a live program, but it has the basic sound production thing. If THAT program goes over your head, you've got a lot of reading to do.

Otherwise, you could buy an expensive hardware sampler. They're easier to learn, because of the tactile control and layout.
