That all depends on how much you have to spend and what you call good.
I have a $50 Topping amp I bought on ebay and a diy DAC I built for around $30 playing through $700 speakers, sounds awesome to me. |

If you want good sound, step away from computer speakers and hook your computer up to a decent sound rig. Doesn't have to be more than about 100 dollars and it will kick the ass of any set of PC speakers you put up against it.
But I kind of get the idea you just want it to be loud and have ****loads of bass. Well then you can pretty much buy anything crappy. The reason Altec is pretty good is because it's balanced .

If you want it to be loud: Buy a PA Amplifier and a set of PA speakers and you're off.

Hi Batty ;D.
Congrats with your 50th posting Poppie: Battie may be right. Find yourself a nice big vintage amp and some old speakers with loads of units in them. Your neighbours will love you after that
