Waves really seem to have been on a discount binge this summer, though. I feel like I get an email from them every other day.

Most VSTi developers have summer sales going on now, which is interesting. I just picked up a solo flute from 8dio earlier today.

Im using Cubase 10.5 Artist and love it, very stable , loads of plugs and instruments.

Or if youre trying to keep a budget try the Sony Acid Express , i used it years ago , it came in a bundle and tried it , was surprisingly easy to use , intuitive , great for sketch pad stuff if you wanna get ideas down quickly. Lots of beats and sounds in there , great for 8 bit dinky electronica ( which i love )
