building a DAW...
hey guys. i'm thinking of building myself a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), and i need some help. it will probably be about a year before it's up and running, but i would appreciate MUCHLY some input and advice from people who have experience either working on a DAW or building computers.
i have controllers and know how to use software and all that jazz, but i don't know much about computers, other than the fact that using a good-but-still-run-of-the-mill PC (i am sticking with PC) is just not enough POWER. i need POWER and reliability. i guess i'm looking for tips on soundcards, motherboards, CPUs, power supply, RAM, memory, all that stuff. if there is another thread devoted to having everything you need to know about building a DAW in, please direct me there. if not, i'd like as much information to show up here as possible, so as i and other aspiring DAWists can learn. thanks! |

Check this out:
Cakewalk DAW Labs - Build a Computer for Digital Audio Recording & Editing There are always a lot of questions about DAWs and software on here and I've been planning (procrastinating) on putting a guide together for the production forum, but until then, any other questions you have, don't hesitate to ask. We have several members here who have a good range of experience in this stuff and we're always willing to help.
