Could my new speakers hurt my LCD TV?

Hey guys :)

Me and the GF bought a new LCD Full-HD TV a little while ago. Now I wanna get some speakers to go along with it. However, through most of my life I've tried to be careful with speakers as they have magnets in them. I'm guessing most of us know what magnets would do to older CRT sets. Discolouration was a potential problem.

I know LCD and CRT is not the same technology and I can't see why liquid crystals should be affected by speaker magnets .. but then again I'm not 100% sure and I'm loathe to do anything that might risk the health of that nice full hd picture.

So, my question : let's say I get some speakers and they are not protected. Can I put them close to my LCD TV? Like right next to it or less than a foot away?

LCD screens are generally considered impervious to magnetic interference but I've never tried verifying it myself. Though I did just find this and the last post is encouraging.

Perfectly fine. Not a problem at all.

Anyone who's already doing this (big speakers close to LCD TV) who can reassure me? :p:

I have a mixer and 150 W PA system about two feet away from our flat screen, doesn't do shit to it. There's also a 30 W solid-state and 60 W tube amps nearby.

I think you're fine.

My Mordaunt Short Mezzo 2's are about a foot away from my 32" LCD, either side. Absolutely no problems.

Also tore, I work for a hi-fi/av company. Trust me on this its totally fine.

Its only the magnets in the speakers that do anything to CRTs anyway, the amps wont do anything.

Alright guys, thanks for the reassurance :) I'm usually not this paranoid, but this time I'm not taking any chances! :p:

Really?

It seems like the inductive coil on the speaker head would produce a much stronger magnetic field than a static ferromagnetic material.

I have two pretty large studio monitors sitting on both sides of my lower LCD monitor, about 4 inches away from the edge of the screen. I also have two 10-inch PA speakers on top of those at the same distance from the sides of my top LCD monitor.... no problems at all. Shit, I even had my 10 inch sub sitting behind my monitors at a distance of about 3 inches at one point.
You're perfectly safe.
