I come from a pair of Sennheiser HD 380 Pro from 2009. They lasted a long time but eventually last year I had (and wanted to) replaced them.
So I've followed the internet hype, like a real pro, and got myself a pair of ATH-M50X, which I'm not liking at all. Uncomfortable, I have to rebalance its sound via EQ, very weird non-natural response overall. The final straw was that I finally invested (again) in a turntable which for now I can mostly only listen with headphones, paired it with a Magni Heresy ampli and now I hate the AT headphones even more. I'm actually waiting for a pair of Beyerdynamics DT-770 (80 Ω) to be dispatched next week. Fingers crossed. BTW I've just discovered this community and decided to join the family. Nice to meet you all. :) |

I'm sticking with my HD600s for the forseeable future. The cool thing about these nice headphones is how well they retain their value. I could sell these and lose maybe 50-0 dollars after 8 years of use. They do need a new cable and pads every once in a while though. |

Their sound signature is natural but dynamic and they are so incredibly comfortable to wear for hours at a time. They're hands-down the best closed-back circumaural model on the market. Glad to see more love for them in the group! |

Although I'm absolutely LOVING my new DT 770 Pro 80ohms right now. |
The good news is that I'm getting a brand new set of headphones, unfortunately as of right now I know nothing about them, not even what brand they are. Hopefully they'll be superior to my little $20 headphones I've been using, I'll keep you posted.

Well I just unpacked my new Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones and am charging them up, I can't make heads or tails of the instructions, I'm hoping my brother can help me...

^^ Noyce. I have the XM3 which is the exact same design.

My brother picked them out (I paid for them), I directed him to this thread, I don't know if he actually browsed this site or did his research elsewhere and came to the same conclusion.

Had my XM4s for a few weeks. Of course, the price was absurd. But I upgraded from an inferior pair that a friend gifted me.
Chief boons: Despite their size the fit is light, snug and unobtrusive. Noise cancelling is impresive (though it's by no stretch outside noise-proof regardless of app setting). Chief cons: Battery life is not extensive (will require daily charging for extensive use). Lightweight, non-folding design requires case when not in use. Course, I got the 2 year warranty. I'm hard on all my devices. If these go 6 months without falling apart in some manner I'll be impressed. |
