Default Soundcard selection help

Hi there,

My brother recently bought a Logitech X-530 soundsystem. It has 6 speakers and is surround sound and whatnot. His soundcard is an
onboard, Realtek audio, piece of junk.

I did open all of the properties and fiddled with everything to "unmute" or just enable surround sound.. but still, only two speakers work out of it. Nothing is broken, and I checked to see if everything was plugged in correctly.

I'm looking for a pci-soundcard that will work with these speakers.. around 40$. He has Windows XP sp3 and I've installed soundcards/drivers plenty of times, I just want something that will work.. (nothing audiophile, ha.)

Thanks for any recommendations,
-m

You should be able to pick up a Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 or a cheap Genius 5.1 card for $US 20 or thereabouts.
