Default Ampeg Settings

I just bought a classic bass head(tube) and a had a peavey mark IV.. i have the 8 tens cab for the ampeg,, and i had 4 ten,and one 15 peavey cab for the peavey.. i have not noticed the diffrence in the first and only 15 minutes of playing the ampeg.. i did pay a lot more for it.. is this my amagination?? the peavey is soild state

Yes, the difference between your Ampeg classic tube and a Peavy solid state should be noticebly warmer, smoother, and more natural sounding. But if you're eq-ing for a sharp response anyway, you might not want a tube head to begin with. The again, I don't know your intentions.
