damn, and i thought i grew up in obscurity (was a half hour drive for a shop in my case).

as far as i know the stooges just cranked everything to 10. possibly used a 'dallas arbiter fuzz face' pedal by dunlop for overdrive (hendrix used one as well). another really popular fuzz pedal from the 70s is the ibanez TS9 tube screamer.

as for spacemen3, that's more wall of sound, in line with MBV right? if that's the case, this might sound odd, but i found that a good reverb pedal was key to getting a really thick lush sound, more than an actual fuzz pedal.

Thanks, I'm trying to cover a song called revolution by Spacemen 3 and it had a Stooges flavor to it...and hopefully the pedals mentioned above will give me a sound close to this =].
