Equipment To Record In A Band (singer, cds, mic, tracks)

Hi there,

Our band needs some equipment that we can use to record 2 guitars, a Bass, and 2-3 Mics for drums and singing.

Our price range is about £100, we don't need all the mixers and everything, just something we can use to record a crystal sound.

Anyone recommend any equipment or tell me what I need?

just don't go for professional recording, find someone who happens to own some nice recording equipment for their own personal use, there are loads of musicians by me, even my singer has a recording studio. offer them 50 quid and if they dont ask for more spend 50 on pressing cds

Yeah, we thought about doing this, but then we would rather are own equipment that we can use ourselves and not have to depend on others.

Steady on there pal, We havn't even made 12 tracks for a first album! - let alone wanting to make CD's of it

lol.

you can get a decent 12-track mixing desk for about £100.

but then you need a computer and some software to mix it, try audacity (its free) or Cubase SX (costs about £250 but can be found online cheaper).

Can I have a distortion pedal plugged into this recorder at good sound?
I tried using a recording program and using the Line-In on my computer, but it was just fuzz and no sound recorded.

yeah... alot of professional studios have 12-track mixing desks. obviously youd be after a cheapo one with that budget (or maybe a 8 or 10-track) but the recording method is the same as you'd get in a studio.

though i dunno if its necessary, depends on what your after really. my band recorded a decent demo sound with only a mic dangling from the middle of the practice room... try that first id say.
