Canada has put together the best team I've seen from us by a mile and we have a very favoured draw. Nice 5-1 win to get it started.
2022 might be a big year.

IIRC 4 teams make it. 3 with direct qualification and 1 through a play in stage maybe? I'm sure 'murica and Mexico will be tough for us but other than that I think Jamaica would be our stiffest competition.
Edit - Round Two: The six group winners will play home and away in a direct elimination format, in June 2021. The three winners will progress. Winners of Group A vs. Winners of Group F Winners of Group B vs. Winners of Group E Winners of Group C vs. Winners of Group D Final Round: The three winners join the teams ranked 1-5 in FIFA's World Ranking (Costa Rica, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, United States). The eight teams will play each other home and away, a total of 14 matches. The top three qualify directly, with the fourth-placed team going to the intercontinental playoff in June 2022.

Anyone else gonna be watching this? Starts tomorrow! I'd love to boycott it, due to the horrendous human rights record Qatar have, and also that they essentially bought the tournament, but hey, it's the WORLD CUP! It's only once every four years. We're not in it, but that won't stop me. Looking forward to this.

I'm probably boycotting it, but we have to see if I have the discipline because I'd also like to watch. At least we had the women's cup too this year, which is more fun anyway

I'll watch Canada's three matches for sure: it's not once every four years that you get to but once every forty...
The first will involve De Bruyne, who is my favorite footballer since peak Iniesta, so that's a huge plus. The other is against Morocco and I'm kinda pumped cause I know quite a few Moroccans from Montreal and they're all completely mad for it and share their preparations on Instagram. The other games I'll just watch the highlights Last edited by jadis; 11-19-2022 at 12:47 PM. |

Since Ireland aren't in it I'm just gonna pick a team at random and root for them, see how they do. Ah. I got Uruguay. Interesting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5CQgsFJm0c Who have they got? Let's see. First match is against South Korea, not until Thursday it looks like Others in their group: Ghana and the mighty Portugal. Can't see them faring very well against two big - one huge - opponents. Don't think this will last long!
