An old acquaintance passed away the other day. I met Steve when we built a local disc golf course in the early 00's. My first impression of him was a man with a strong work ethic, and he proceeded to exceed that impression with every passing day. He'd be out there sun up to sun down every day until it was finished, then he'd move right on to the next project. Very inspiring to say the least. We hadn't spoken nor been in the same company since the opening ceremony of that course, but it's still a bit of a shock to hear that he passed. He was still a youngster by most peoples standards.
We played the very first round before The Oaks opened after we built it: https://scontent-ort2-1.xx.fbcdn.net...d1&oe=61B7DEF3 He had a feature on DiscTV back in the early days of the sport: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jyj0X9CXrOE RIP Steve (PDGA #8), and thank you for all you've contributed to the DG community. |
I was asked to create a logo for a local tournament series which will be held next year. I worked on this all day yesterday and didn't notice my blunder until this morning... after I sent the director a proof for approval:

Putting leagues started this week. There's also an open mic at the same time in a different part of the bar we're doing the leagues at. The format for the leagues is 3 rounds and one last championship round for the top 2 teams at the end of each night, and you have a bit of a wait in between each one. What the hack, I'll bring a guitar and do a tune or two while I wait. It'll stave off the rust.

^ Did you design that? Very nice. Wondering which guitar you'll be playing at the open mic - not the PRS, I suppose? How's the restoration going? Hope you have a great time.

That's really great - I'm so happy you were to rescue and restore it. :)
I still have the Elixir light gauge strings you recommended way back when on my Guild M-20, and am very happy with them. Would never use anything else now. |
I don't even remember rec'ing those. lol
Elixers are ok but I'm used to D'Addario nickel 10's. Been using them for decades. |
I gave the PRS a bit of TLC today. Just a bit of glass cleaner and a towel gave it back it's shine and luster. Letting it sit a for a month helped to get the smell out too. She's back to about 99%, just a bit of fret buzz at the 12th but I can remedy that next time I change strings. Kind of amazing the shape it's in knowing that it was literally in the path of the blaze and then trampled by firefighting techniques. My guess is that most things under waist height were saved from cooking at high temps and the drywall that fell on top of it kept the direct downward forces from being too overbearing for the wood.
