The Jackson Park director sent me a link to the Chicago Park District Public Forum Meeting where he was a speaker, and the Commissioner in charge mentioned he's a fan of the sport and has played. Also, one of the others on the board is a good friend of the JP director and everyone is on board with this, which means the necessary funds will be allocated for the project. w00t! He also mentioned allocating some funds for other areas as well, like Marquette Park, which is just a huge bonus. Lets get this done.

I was puttering around last night getting things ready for this weekends DJ gig at the prison and I managed to smack my knee on my coffee table not once but twice in approximately the same spot about an hour apart. I even managed to puncture the skin both times. Ow.
Anyway, I'm all set. 250 songs, most of which have a prison/law/weapon/crime theme, and some just for fun. I figured at about 4 minutes per song, some less, some considerably more, I have about 16+ hours of music each day to give me a bit of a buffer if needed. Day one will be the entire playlist played in the order it was created, and then day 2 will be shuffled to keep it mixed up a bit. I tested out a few different configurations and found out that my Line 6 is actually a friggin piece of ****. I knew this, and I've been using it anyway in my garage setup, but there's entirely too much nasally midrange spouting from that thing with no amount of treble/mid delete and bass boost to alleviate any of it. I bought that thing in an emergency situation when I was in a band a long time ago and needed something cheap. So, everything EXCEPT the Line 6 will be transported and setup for the gig. I'll be heading out there today to meet up with the head honcho to go over generator placement and a few other things. We'll probably throw the layout too. lol https://i.imgur.com/CN1lSbH.jpg?1 |

Bout to buy a Star plastic Destroyer cause I've been throwing a Champion Destroyer and it feels good but I love the way Star plastic releases from your fingers and a Star Destroyer was my favorite disc I ever lost. Also I'm a former Star Wars nerd and it makes me happy.

Do it.
I played the club challenge layout today at the prison which featured a blindfolded shot, a glow shot (deep in the bowels of the gym), many up an down shots, (which I made 3 of) and some over 300ft monsters. Wow. This is gonna be a fun weekend. |
Good for you Plonker a really buzzey weekend,,, if you don't have fun I'll eat my hat........

It was exhausting but lots of fun. We had a great team to help run things smoothly, so that helped a lot. Getting 400+ people through this course and them having a great time was worth the no sleep or food for 2.5 days. We had a team at check-in, another team handled scoring and questions about using uDisc (lots of those), another team handled beer/water, the tournament director did the players meetings, and I handled sound and announcements. We all helped with set-up and tear down.
We had 72 throwers, 4 on each card of 18 holes for a 9am, Noon, and 3pm rounds each day, Sat and Sun, and it went over really well. Having that PA system always helps too. lol Looking forward to next year. |
