FPO round 4 lead card:

This is a 5 day tournament. Grueling to say the least. It's also interesting to see that they installed cement tee pads and new baskets at Sunset Hills. I played there quite a few times and they had temporary rubber tee pads that sucked. They get a little wet and it's like trying to tee-off on the back of a slug. I'm gonna head out there and check em out soon.

I was rooting for Emerson Keith in the Pro Worlds, but he's a mere mortal amongst Gods like Paul and Wysocki. Still, such a great outlook and so young. He'll get there.

Thats my kitchen and I have a Paul McBeth first run Luna sitting in that basket, so the first thing I do in the morning is grab that putter and make a putt.

*clang*

If I miss, I go back to bed.

My Disc Golf vacation is just about over. *sniffle*

I went to Peoria IL and played Megiddo, Laura Bradley Park, and Sunset Hills, then went to Nashville where I played Cedar Hill, then I whisked myself away to beautiful downtown Bowling Green Kentucky where I played Lovers Lane, Kereiakes, and then a new course called Combat DGC where they actually sell beer and let you use golf carts. What a blast.

Did you try some in-cart-while-moving throws like a disc golf knight?

Of course. I jumped it too, and almost lost my copilot. Imagine trying to putt and some ******* on the next hole is laughing hysterically while another ******* is yelling "Ramming Speed!" as they take off air-born out of a sand bunker.

I like that city, Peoria, never been there though. Just never understood why people dont move out of Chicago to Peoria, Springfield, Rockford or Davenport/Quad Cities.

That must have been fun playing disc golf where ya went. I just recently hooped at 3 parks in Davenport last week

The Batlord 09-06-2019 12:39 PM

If you've never been to Peoria then why do you like it?

I know someone who lives there and its just a smaller city in the midwest, cant I just like some cities :o:

Ive drove through it too :) Never stopped, never had a reason.

Plankton 09-07-2019 05:05 PM

They just held the PDGA World Championships there, so they have a great Disc Golf community at least. Not sure about the rest of the city, although I did see some great architecture there. My main reason for going was to play Sunset Hills, since they installed new baskets and cement tee pads for the Championships. Every time I've played there it was temp rubber pads and those suck.

I'll let OH demonstrate that one.

I've been asked to DJ the next tournament at the prison again. This time Dynamic Discs will be there covering the event. This is a huge step forward for our area, and we'll be sneak-peaking the new Gold course that some of my 'colleagues' have been working on (and me a little bit, I've been tasked to design/build a few small bridges for it). This new Gold course (not named yet, so that's what we call it) will bring in more people, coverage, revenue, and hopefully pro championships like this:

Economic Impact

... The tournament will bring 288 of the world’s best disc golfers and thousands of fans to the area and ring up as much as $2 million in economic impact.
Personally, I have one more tournament to get through, and then I'm concentrating all my time on strength training and endurance until next spring, but this should keep me occupied on the off days. Well, besides my job anyway.

:yeah:

Oct 19-20th (Sat/Sun) at the Old Joliet Prison.

They'll be filming for a documentary about the event. Not sure about the live stream. Whoops.

This was all I had to go on until I talked with one of the organizers today.

https://i.imgur.com/u5PyrGk.jpg

They had a story about it in the winter edition of Disc Golf Magazine last year, so I guess this is the logical next step. There's been a lot of interest in it, and they sold all 360 card slots in 14 minutes the day registration opened.

Workin on it. Nothing fancy, and they just need something rudimentary. The idea is to keep it minimal and just have enough room to cross the small stream that bubbles up near a natural spring. We'll need to hand carry all the materials about 50 yards off the main road to assemble it, so weight is an issue. This is based off of the spare scraps we have out back. Some 36" treads made from 1" bar grating, and some C4x5.4 channel. Four small 12x6 cement piers to support it, and done.
