Italy vs Argentina at the Etihad tonight.
Only expecting 25-30k I think. Only found out about this today, I think a lot of people would have gone to this had they known. £15 and pay on the gate??? |
World Cup six pack, as we are now exactly one month away.
Who will be the 2018 World Cup winners? Which two teams will make the final? Who will be the tournament's top goal scorer? Who will win best player? Who will be the surprise team (defined as a team who punches well above their weight and exceeds expectations ala Costa Rica 2014, Turkey 2002)? Predict England's performance. |
Who will be the 2018 World Cup winners?
Argentina. Which two teams will make the final? Argentina and Brazil. Who will be the tournament's top goal scorer? Messi. Who will win best player? Messi. Who will be the surprise team (defined as a team who punches well above their weight and exceeds expectations ala Costa Rica 2014, Turkey 2002)? Russia. Golovin top player and needed at Arsenal. Predict England's performance. Lose in Quarter-Final. Perform quite well. |
Who will be the 2018 World Cup winners?
France Which two teams will make the final? France & Brazil Who will be the tournament's top goal scorer? Neymar Who will win best player? Kante Who will be the surprise team (defined as a team who punches well above their weight and exceeds expectations ala Costa Rica 2014, Turkey 2002)? don't see there being a clear one this year... hopefully Egypt on the shoulders of the prophet mohammed. Predict England's performance. ditto Goof's, but i think they will get absolutely smashed in the quarters and we will all be very sad. |
Pleased to see Goof backing Argentina again.
|
Messi been on another level recently. Otamendi best CB in the world last season too.
|
Who will be the 2018 World Cup winners?
Brazil, I don't think the 'it's in Europe so a European team will win it' means much as 95% of South Americans play here anyway. Which two teams will make the final? Brazil and Argentina. Who will be the tournament's top goal scorer? Sir Harry Edward Kane of England. Who will win best player? Messi. Who will be the surprise team (defined as a team who punches well above their weight and exceeds expectations ala Costa Rica 2014, Turkey 2002)? Russia and Egypt are good shouts. Predict England's performance. Win first two, lose vs Belgium, win second round knockout, lose quarter final vs Brazil. Harry Kane's seven goals along the way should be enough for the Golden Boot. |
bonus question speed round:
what percentage of England's goals will be scored by Harry Kane? how many absolute sitters will Sterling smash over the net? who will be the first English player to get injured and miss the entirety of the tournament? |
Is is true America didn’t qualify?
|
what percentage of England's goals will be scored by Harry Kane?
>50% how many absolute sitters will Sterling smash over the net? 2 who will be the first English player to get injured and miss the entirety of the tournament? None of them now. Season is all but done and they will go easy in the warm ups. |

They needed to win their last game and lost to bottom of the group Trinidad & Tobago who had nothing to play for as they couldn't qualify. If you see my first post in this thread I said they should still do it. Spectacular failure. |
But we hired a fancy German guy.
Did QPR make it? |

I was gonna say anyone injured now won't be someone we miss as the key players don't have any games left.
We won't miss Ox. |
Would he have even gone? Useless player.
|
Agreed not as if it is Kane or Vardy.
Honestly think in attack we have ridiculous strength, as good as any country in the world. Vardy/Kane/Sterling 86 goals between them then Rashford/Lingard 26 goals between them then Sturridge if fit and Defoe off the bench. Only Sturridge is a doubt but if fit then for me he has to go. |
Ox was pretty decent in the latter half in the season, and it's not like there's much depth in the english midfield so I think it's a loss.
|
He isn't pure crap but he is not much better than what we already have imo.
One less average midfielder isn't going to hurt us. If it was Alli then I would be a bit disappointed. It is the worst midfield in a long time though for me. At the last World Cup we at least had Creasehead even if he was about 50 years old. Thierry Henry saying the midfield of 2004-6 was the best in the world. Scholes/Lampard/Creasehead/Beckham. Man like Hargreaves as well he was class. |
defense isn't anything special either imo, but we will see. hopefully they bring their scoring boots and it's enough to make a bit of a run.
|
Who's "Creasehead"?

Nothing, just like the name.
Hart not included in England's squad. |

Yes. Guys can disagree with me but I would probably take Hart to be honest. I have been a long term critic of Hart but he's one of our most experienced players and especially for a position like goalkeeper you don't want to be taking three kids. Hart/Butland/Pickford probably would have been mine.
Nick Pope will take Hart's place though. 26 years old. |
Becks would be unreal if he was playing these days. Deep-lying CM absolutely bossing the game. Better than Kroos, Xavi and Pirlo etc.
|
agreed on Hart. bring him as an experienced back up if nothing else. think leaving him behind and bringing 3 very young keepers is a bit of a bad call but that’s just me. Pickford will be the number 1, yeah?
|
Butland #1 if fit.

When Capello publicly dropped him at Real Madrid but he still kept turning up for training and won Capello over  |
Second best English player after Sir. Frank.

England 23 man squad:
Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford (Everton), Jack Butland (Stoke), Nick Pope (Burnley) Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose (both Tottenham), Harry Maguire (Leicester), Phil Jones (Man Utd), John Stones, Kyle Walker (both Man City), Gary Cahill (Chelsea) Midfielders: Jordan Henderson, (Liverpool), Eric Dier, Dele Alli (both Tottenham), Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young (both Man Utd), Fabian Delph (Man City), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea), Forwards: Raheem Sterling (Man City), Jamie Vardy (Leicester), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Man Utd), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal). Thoughts? Anyone you wouldn't take or would have included? |
not sure about the exclusion of Wilshere, what do you lot think?
he is very creative when healthy and i think that’s one thing the midfield lacks, especially with Lallana not coming either. i like the versatility they have with the wingers though, should be a lot of room to play around if things aren’t going well. and the pace of Rashford, Sterling, and Vardy alongside a pure goal scorer like Kane excites me. will be very upsetting if this team can’t score consistently. |
Not that bothered about Wilshere.
I think the squad is pretty good. Delph can create although he isn't a playmaker as such. I think people will be surprised by how good Delph is, at the moment people seem to find it funny that he's been included. I'd have been tempted to have Jack Grealish on standby tbh. |
i haven’t watched enough of Villa this season to really say but from what i’ve seen he looks like he’s not far off from being included. i just think it’s a painfully average midfield with a lot of guys who can do a little bit of a lot of things but nobody who does anything great, outside of Dele of course.

Maybe a bit too early but I really want to see him play for England. Was pleased when Delph finally got in, the cunt. |
do you think he will stay with the team for the forseable future? i imagine the phones will start ringing if he ends up proving he can perform well at the premiership level.
