rubber soul 07-03-2018 02:54 PM

Did anybody have any heart attacks?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 07-03-2018 02:54 PM

that save by Pickford was nuts, the arm strength required to be able to do that is unreal.

OccultHawk 07-03-2018 02:59 PM

Congrats to all of you real England supporters

Whew

Pulled his arm back across too. Immense reflexes.

This is the sixth penalty shoot out I've watched England have in a tournament ('96, '98, '04, '06, '12) and the first one we've won.

Actually waited years to see this

Croatia and Belgium have impressed, wouldn't be surprised if they do better than my bracket says.

Occult - 4
Qwerty - 6
Rubbers - 5
Goofle- 5
Eric- 6

Just had a quick run down my street, saw everyone outside going nuts.

rubber soul 07-03-2018 03:21 PM

I actually have 5, Hawk ( France, Brazil, Russia, Croatia, and Sweden)

Cuthbert 07-03-2018 03:22 PM

So we play Sweden on Saturday.

That will be tough.

I'd take Sterling out and start Rashford.

Sir Harry was class tonight from start to finish

Jesus Christ! Couldn't watch the match as I was on a mission of mercy, got back it was over. Started watching the recording, gets to extra time with four minutes to go in the second half - ****ING STOPS RECORDING!!!! I had to wait for the highlights programme to see how it turned out.

****ing well done to your boys, Monkey. Thought you were sunk when Henderson fluffed (sorry) it, but all came good in the end. Magic penalties, specially Harry and Vardy. Now go on and do Sweden! Congrats getting this far.
:soccer:
Wonder what pithy comment Batty will have? Maybe "huh, deciding a game on penalties is mad. You English." or something of that nature. I wouldn't disagree with him, to be fair.

Cuthbert 07-03-2018 05:36 PM

As soon as the equaliser went in I thought we were going to lose as well. They looked a broken team walking around before extra time. Heads fallen. When it went to penalties I simply did not think there was a chance. Even thought Dier would miss or have his penalty saved.

Hopefully this experience will be the making of this team. Sweden will be tough but I don't expect any MMA from them.

Can't wait for Goofle's analysis

Didn’t get to watch the game unfortunately lads. Will watch extended highlights tomorrow.

But.

It’s.

Coming.

Spoiler for “have a guess”:
Home.

Cuthbert 07-03-2018 06:44 PM

If anyone can find footage or videos of the post match analysis with Neville, Wright and Dixon I will luv u 5eva.

You can't watch Wright and Dixon hugging each other and ballooning around the studio with Neville and not smile.

There ya go.

:)

Goofle 07-04-2018 06:07 AM

1 - Carlos Sanchez is the worst footballer I have ever seen.

2 - England need to find a way to play decent football and create chances, relying too much on set-pieces and hoofs up the pitch. Could work if we get lucky and keep it together at the back, but very risky. Perhaps moving Sterling to a central area? Need more dynamism behind Kane as opposed to just wide.

3 - Dele Alli has been woeful. He needs creativity around him to shine, and England aren't showing any. So either do what I mentioned above or bin him for something different.

4 - Colombia are a disgrace. Not seen a more retarded low IQ bunch of thuggish "footballers" since Zaire in '74.

5 - Pickford save before the corner was the best I have seen in a long time.

6 - Unbelievable pen save from Ospina on Henderson. Henderson legit dropped the worst performance of the tournament, but it was a good penalty.

7 - Even better save from Pickford.

edit: Apparently Sterling did play centrally yesterday, couldn't tell in the extended highlights. Ahh well maybe something else.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 07-04-2018 07:06 AM

take Sterling off the pitch imo, just doesn’t bring enough to the table.

start Rashers or Vardy. as soon as Vardy came on he created two scoring opportunities. unfortunately nothing much came from either but just his getting into space and making the defenders panic was a well needed addition.

i say play Vardy and Rashford outside of Kane, takes some pressure off of him as defenders are forced to track their runs otherwise they get in behind.

this could work with sterling just as well if he wasn’t a lazy ****.

yes, probably this. vardy on for rashford late in the game for a burst of pace if needed.

surprised how well the defense has been. Walker playing in an off role, Stones and Maguire being so young and inexperienced.

Goofle 07-04-2018 07:56 AM

Walker played there for City a fair few times last season. He's a World Class player.

Wish England had at least one decent CM. And to be honest, I would take a Dier/Wilshere pairing over anything we have to offer.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 07-04-2018 08:23 AM

did he? wasn’t aware.

i would have taken wilshere personally. i think he is very well rounded and as you’ve said England is lacking creativity in the mid. a lot of dump and chase.

not sure if he’s still hurt or not but Lallana would probably provide a boost too in terms of playmaking ability.

Bitch we made the final 4 with a third place finish in 1930.

Ireland has only qualified thrice and never won a game.

Goofle 07-04-2018 09:22 AM

Lallana should have gone and played. Big miss.

They won in 2002, I remember watching their penalty shoot out in the knockout so they got through their group.

My first mistake ever on MB.

Apologies to Ireland

https://www.11v11.com/teams/usa/tab/...0of%20Ireland/

The USA is 2-6-2 against Ireland all time.

BUT

https://www.11v11.com/teams/usa/tab/...ition/England/

We’re 1-0-1 against England in World Cup matches. That’s undefeated.

And 2-0 against England in war.

The American Revolution and the War of 1812.

Suck on that hotdog on this 4th of July

I'm not very up on the War of 1812 but my perception is that they **** on us but they were fighting god damn Napoleon so they couldn't really capitalize on it.

Actually, historians call the War of 1812 a draw so that makes the US 1-0-1 against England in wars too. :D

The War of 1812 wasn’t a ****ing draw

England wanted a round two because they were still butthurt from the ass ****ing we gave them in The American Revolution so we took those ***gots down to New Orleans where we got up in that ass yet again. That tender English ass felt so good we took our rock hard American cocks and choked out the remaining Indian tribes, stole a bunch of land from the Mexicants, then stole a bunch of **** from the Philippines and even started cashing in on England’s ****ing of Hong Kong. We were just like we’ll be taking those opium profits too. Sorry bitches
