I've never had less confidence in a footballer when it comes to kicking the ball properly than I do in Raheem Sterling.
My man Harry Kane just scored though. Sir Harry Edward Kane, of England |

Anyone into a little prediction game, just for fun? Like predict each day's match results, see who scores first, any penalties etc. I know you, me, Goof, Qwert and Akai will be following this so might be a giggle. Could do a separate thread or just keep it here.

Akai is not a football guy so doubt he'd do it.
Violet might though. And I think he might be going to the England game in the week. It's up in Leeds. We could probably get some of the American lads involved too. |

I'm following the world cup for sure this time. I'll be happy to play the prediction game but they're just guesses, I don't follow football so they're just random guesses. It's fun though if I get lucky. But I'm with you guys in this thread when it starts, I'll do a bit of research and keep up to date. Always loved the world cup and I've always rooted for my England team of course, but I'll probably follow more matches this time.
Which teams are the ones to look out for this time round? |

Favourites/worthy winners: Germany, France, Brazil
Strong contenders: Argentina, Spain Long shots: Belgium, Portgual, Uruguay, Colombia, England Look out for Argentina's games, as well as England obviously. It will imo be Messi's last chance to win the World Cup. Many guys are supporting Argentina for this reason. |

Cool. Might also be fun to do a pool. As there won't be many of us, we could all get, I don't know, eight teams each in the opening rounds, just to give us all something to follow if (AHEM!) our country is not in it. Or we don't care. Then it would be interesting to see who was left as we got down to the last sixteen, quarter finals etc.
Ideas for predictions: Winners of each game Score of each game Number of red/yellow cards Scorers (first/last) Type of match (evenly matched, last minute penalty/free, shock ending, foregone conclusion, upset etc) Stupidest mistake/worst sitter Player(s) reaching/not reaching expected potential in match Man of the match and so on.

I'm guessing there would be some website that allows you to track/record predictions in some sort of data thing. So you just click the link and put your score in and it tracks it like a table.
We don't need that many, just result/score/goalscorer imo. The more stuff you add, the less likely the non football guys are to get involved. |
