Pretty much. But they're not producing many top players which is unusual for them, they've always had a few. Robben, Sneijder, van Persie, Huntelaar are all well into their 30s. They aren't producing players of that quality to replace them. It's just one of those things. They'll be back eventually.

Justin Kluivert (Patrick's son) is probably one to keep an eye on as well as Fosu-Mensah. Memphis Depay seemed like he could be their new star but he's back in the Netherlands now.

I would rate this match 2/10.

The last Danish penalty did it. Guy nearly fell over himself trying to be clever with it.

I couldn't watch after Schmiekel blocked the penalty kick. Now I can breathe again. Russia scares the Hell out of me though. If Croatia plays like they did again Denmark and with Russia's home field advantage, they're toast.

Unbelievable! Two knockout games, two penalty shootouts. Can't believe Eriksen of all people missed. Fair play to Modric stepping up. Schmeichel still one of the best keepers in the world though. Well done Croatia.

Schmeichel is one Hell of a goalkeeper. I might have taken Denmark against Russia had they won.

if your best players decided a team Denmark would be fantastic. one of the best creative midfielders and goalkeepers in the world. shame they don’t have a lot more than that though.
