Quaresmaaaaaaaaa

Cuthbert 06-25-2018 12:55 PM

Good goal yeah, Iran not out of this though.

OccultHawk 06-25-2018 01:08 PM

Is Portugal playing possession

And if so isn’t it too early for that?

Cuthbert 06-25-2018 01:10 PM

Not a pen.

OccultHawk 06-25-2018 01:13 PM

The ref needs to pull the red

I don't know why they do it. I've never seen a decision reversed because a player shouted at the ref.

Cuthbert 06-25-2018 01:28 PM

Portugal are a horrible side.

They’re letting Iran dictate the style of play. Portugal is distracted. Trying to win the fight instead of the game.

Cuthbert 06-25-2018 01:54 PM

Iran should have won this.

OccultHawk 06-25-2018 01:59 PM

Cristiano Ronaldo is supposed to be able to make a PK

What do y’all call them? Just “pens”?

Cuthbert 06-25-2018 02:17 PM

Yeah, pens/penalties.

OccultHawk 06-25-2018 02:24 PM

I guess Portugal was playing so slow because they only needed a tie.

Cuthbert 06-25-2018 02:28 PM

Portugal vs Uruguay round 16, that should be good.

Goofle 06-25-2018 02:42 PM

Penny. And Portugal are truly horrific.

Spain vs Russia is the other round of 16 game.

Spain and Uruguay to go through.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 06-25-2018 04:47 PM

part of me feels portugal will pull it together and overcome Uruguay but they haven’t been very convincing...

I will say Portugal manages to win it but it’s not a very convincing win and it’s a very close one. will not be surprised if i’m wrong.

spain through as well ofc

Goofle 06-25-2018 05:39 PM

Uruguay better win. Can't be having The Dark Invader spoiling my boys Torreira and Cavani's summer.

Cuthbert 06-26-2018 07:30 AM

I assume everyone will be watching Argentina tonight.

Now or never for Messi.

Win well and they are through. Apparently Messi and Mascherano are picking the team.

Goofle 06-26-2018 07:34 AM

Deary me.

OccultHawk 06-26-2018 08:11 AM

Denmark and France both advance with a tie if I’m figuring it right.

Not an especially exciting arrangement

OccultHawk 06-26-2018 08:13 AM

Croatia has pretty much no incentive to beat Iceland

That's why they have the last round of games kick off at the same time for each group. It's to stop teams playing for draws if the other two have already played and they know a draw will see them both through.

England Belgium should be :D
I'm OK as long as England don't lose.

This France team is pure ass.

The way this whole thing is set up seems to encourage fans to approach it like bitches who are fine with ties. At least American sports championships don't put up with that ****.

We're not "fine with ties".
Three draws would pretty much guarantee a team is knocked out.

England don't need to win their third game because they won the first two.

Bitch ****. You should be fin to punch a Jew in the throat if they don't win every game. And why the **** even have ties? Why not have overtime like real men?

They do.

In the group stage it's eight groups of four teams, three matches each. 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 if you lose. The two teams with the most points after the three games proceed to knockouts.

In the knockout stage if it's a draw after 90 minutes there is extra time (30 minutes) and if it's a draw after extra time then it's a penalty shoot out.

We aren't in the knockout stage yet. We are in the final round of group games.

Can't believe I'm explaining this.

Dude

NFL teams play half ass when guaranteed home field or eliminated

And the NBA? Have you watched the two or three weeks following the ALL STAR game. It’s the most lackluster bull****. In the NBA half the teams make the playoffs. Popovich openly admits he’s resting healthy players. Teams often just coast for a 4th place regular season finish. NBA teams even play half ass in the playoffs when they figure they can’t win on the road or can’t win at all. You ever heard of “Cancun on 3”?

The Sixers tanked back to back SEASONS for draft picks.

So don’t front like American sports don’t pull this ****.

Read Ball Four. ****ing baseball players who don’t even run to first base. Drunk on the field and on and on. Mathematically eliminated with 30 games left.

****.

OccultHawk 06-26-2018 10:02 AM

Not to mention college teams that don’t even want their bowl game or go to the NIT

Group Stage is just like “regular season” and American sports are organized in a similar way. We have an obsession against ties buy American football overtime boils down to just luck.

Soccer fans understand that one point for a draw in group play is reasonable at that stage in the tournament. And in fact the NFL does accept ties in the regular season after 15 minutes of overtime. And they change the damn rules ever year.

Cuthbert 06-26-2018 10:31 AM

Thoughts on the Argentina game then? This is the one I've been most excited for other than England/Tunisia.

3-1 Argentina. Can't see them keeping a clean sheet but should finally score a few.
Messi hat trick.

Goofle 06-26-2018 10:37 AM

Messi's time to show he is the king of football.

Posted before but if this doesn't get you in the footy mood I don't know what will.

Cuthbert 06-26-2018 10:44 AM

Yeah that's amazing :D
